    5 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (A*-C) including English and Maths and French.  Students who have not studied GCSE but have a high level of competence in French will be considered.

Overview

You will develop the ability to communicate confidently in written and spoken French with a high level of grammatical accuracy.

Details

The topics studied will build on your GCSE and move you towards speaking French fluently and cover:

  • Education and employment in France and the French speaking world
  • Family life in French culture
  • Literature and film of France
  • Media
  • Equality and Diversity in the French speaking world

You will work in a supportive learning environment where small group tasks build your confidence and teaching staff provide all the help and encouragement you need to excel.  You will have dedicated time each week to practice your conversations skills with a fluent speaker.  


A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.

How will it be delivered?

Examinations. Assessments will include oral, listening, reading and translation and writing.

What can I do next?

The French language is spoken across all five continents, so studying French is an excellent way of enhancing your international career prospects.  You will develop linguistic and reasoning skills that are important for any academic route.  In addition to studying French at university, A Level French is also an asset for degrees in Law, Teaching, Journalism and Communications.
