Coronavirus update - Information from Longley Park Sixth Form Principal and Briganita Learning Trust

Coronavirus update - 17th March 2020

Wednesday, 18 Mar 2020 1 Minute Read

Longley Park Sixth Form is open as usual but we are advising our students to attend for lessons only and to work in the ILC. The safety of our students and staff is paramount but we are also mindful of the advice of social distancing so are encouraging students not to spend their social time within the sixth form; all visits, internal and external have now been cancelled. The café will be closing at 1.30pm and students will be asked to leave site when they have finished lessons.

What are Longley Park doing?

Discussions have been had with all students regarding the importance of washing their hands, catch it, bin it, kill it and what to do if they start to feel unwell. Hand sanitizers have been placed around the Sixth Form and our cleaning team our continuing to work to their high standards. As per Government guidelines, if students have a high temperature and/or a new persistent cough then the advice is that they should be self-isolating for a 14 day minimum period.

In the event that we do close, the Sixth Form Leadership Team, along with all staff, have been working closely on a contingency plan. Staff here will continue to work with students remotely and work will be set according to the course they are studying. Communication can continue between staff and students, as it does daily, with our online platform Cedar and Longley Park’s email system.
