International Women's Day 2023

International Women's Day 2023

This year's theme for International Women's Day was to #EmbraceEquity. By embracing equity, we ensure that despite our differing life circumstances, race, ethnicity or religion, we are all able to access exact opportunities and reach an equal outcome. We were very lucky to have female representation from employment sectors such as the Fire Service and Rescue as well as South Yorkshire Police. This was particularly impactful as women in these job roles are not often widely represented. Hopefully this has inspired many of our students to consider an alternative career path, one which they may not have believed a possibility.

Money raised from the event will be donated to Ashiana, a Sheffield based charity which aims to help women and children from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee communities from violence and abuse. A wonderful charity that is quite fitting for this year's IWD theme.

Thank you to everyone who took part in today's celebration for IWD, whether that was taking part in our raffle to win a signed football by SWUFC and RWUFC or purchasing a badge designed by one of our incredible students, your support is appreciated. A special thank you to Sheffield Futures, Sexual Health Sheffield and Element Society for also running stalls which the students and staff loved. Lastly, a thank you to PCSO Deb Parker who had the connections to bring all of our guests together.
