Biology is related to many areas of our life including food safety, agriculture, medicine, sport and scientific research.
The study of life itself, in Biology you will study the theories and principles involved in living systems from cells and organisms to the genetic relationships that exist in our environment. Through both theory and regular practical hands-on sessions you will examine animal and plant material, study molecules and chemicals that life is built upon and explore the amazing human body. Experiencing the workplace, communicating with employers and universities and laying the foundations for your next steps are threaded throughout your Biology A Level.
Biology fits perfectly with the other sciences, Chemistry and Physics but also works well with Health and Social Care, Sport, Maths and Criminology; we will always work with you to find the right combination for your future aspirations.
A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.
You will complete exams at the end of the 2 year course whilst also completing practical endorsement throughout.
Biology can lead to so many different careers, including medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, veterinary medicine, laboratory work, forensics, pathology and nursing. Whether it's researching those future vaccinations and cures, forensic investigation with the police or supporting people back to full health through diagnostics, care and medicine, Biology A level is the course to study.
