Overview

This qualification has been designed to support learners as they develop their knowledge, understanding and skills when caring for and supporting the learning and development of children aged 0 to 11 years 11 months. 

Details

You will learn about children at different stages in their growth and development, how to care for and educate them and how to work with parents, carers and other professionals.  This includes communication, positive behaviour, safeguarding and welfare, health and safety and creating positive environments for children and young people.

This is a work-related course so work placements are a key part of your study.  You will take part in placements working with children of different ages in a variety of settings.

How will it be delivered?

Assessment will be through assignments, external short answer examination and you will also be assessed on your work placement.  

What can I do next?

The Certificate trains you to work in a job as an assistant in settings such as nursery assistant, creche worker, childminder assistant.  Students from this course have also gone on to study the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education/Early Years Educator, Supporting Teaching and Learning, Children and Young People's Workforce and Health & Social Care.
