You should have the equivalent of a GCSE grade 2/E or better in Single or Dual Science, Applied Science or Biology and also in Maths.
You will build on the biological science you studied at school.
This is a very hands on subject and you will take part in practical work and a field trip. Your study will involve some dissection of biological material.
The course covers three main areas, understanding ourselves by looking at the structure and main system of the body, understanding our environment including plants and pollution and the world of micro-organisms including bacteria.
A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.
Examinations
GCSE Biology is usually studied alongside other courses to make up a full study programme and provide the foundations for progression into careers such as paediatric nursing, primary education, nursing and midwifery. However the options are endless when coupled with our main programmes.
