English at Longley Park

Studying English will give you the opportunity to develop your understanding of the ways writers communicate across many different genres and forms. You will explore the influence of linguistic, literary, cultural and socio-historical contexts. You will develop your analytical skills and expertise, giving you the ability to delve beneath the surface meaning of words, to explore hidden and intended meanings at another level. You will learn about how the English Language has developed and changed and how it can be used for many different purposes. Studying English at A Level will help you to develop skills in research, presentation, written communication, debate and discussion.
