NEU Industrial Action

Dear Parents, carers and students,

We are writing to inform you that the National Education Union has indicated its intention for strike action on two further days this term. This is in a continued response to teacher pay negotiations and funding taking place at a national level. We are expecting lessons to be impacted by this action and there will be disruption to sessions for some students. We are putting plans into place to ensure that no examinations are impacted and that where students are preparing for exams, the impact is reduced as much as possible.

The dates that have been identified by the NEU are: Thursday, 27th April and Tuesday, 2nd May.

Staff from teaching unions other than the NEU or those who are not taking part in the action will let students know what sessions and lessons are running. Where students are told sessions are running, they are expected to attend, and registers will be taken.

To further reduce the impact of this continued industrial action at this vital time of the academic year, the site will be open, and all students are welcome to attend to complete supervised independent study, complete assignments or personal revision in our independent learning centre. Our catering facilities will be open on a reduced service, and students entitled to free meals will be able to access these throughout the day as normal.

We apologise for the inconvenience that this might cause, and trust that those students without lessons will use these days productively to prepare for final examinations and assignments. On both dates, our safeguarding team will be on site and can be contacted at safeguarding@longleypark.ac.uk.

If you have any questions or queries, please email enquiries@longleypark.ac.uk.

Yours faithfully,

Jamie Davies

Executive Principal
