Overview
Photography is an exciting and excellent choice of study at A level where you learn about all aspects of the subject, from the rules of composition to photoshop and digital camera skills. No prior experience is necessary and you don't even need your own camera.
Details
During the course of study you will build up a substantial portfolio of work inspired by the work of established photographers and you will experiment with the many and varied styles and genres of photography. A range of practical projects will focus your learning and enable you to explore the techniques and these associated with photographic genres including landscape, urban, light painting, portrait, still life and abstract photography. You will also look at the work of other photographers and learn how to analyse and evaluate their images using specialist terms and vocabulary. On this busy but rewarding course, expect there to be opportunities to take part in photography walks, trips to galleries and to meet professional photographers at work in their own studios.
A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.

What can I do next?
Most photography students at Longley Park have the chance to progress on to University and study either photography, art and design, film and media or graphics or other related subjects. Progression is an important aim at Longley Park Sixth Form and students will be expected to plan thoroughly for the next step and beyond. Many ex-students have chosen to study Photography as a specialist degree and gone onto establish themselves in the industry whilst others have used the skills they have developed to aid them in their chosen career paths in other ways. One this is for sure, studying Photography prepares students for a wide variety of progression options.
