Equivalent to 3 A Levels

Through exciting creative projects you'll learn a wide range of skills and industry standard software. At the end of each year you'll be able to choose whichever of these skills you'd like to specialise in.

Themes covered on this course are:

Year 1

  • Project 1 - Design a character for the games industry while learning a variety of skills, including video game 3D modelling and graphic design
  • Project 2 - Develop a setting for a game or animated film while learning skills like worldbuilding and environmental storytelling. Build on the 3D, animation and graphic skills you learned in Project 1.
  • Project 3 -Learn skills like branding and motion graphics as you work in a project modelled on real skills used by industry professionals in Sheffield.
  • Project 4 - The Final Project. Choose your specialism from the skills you've learned this year.

Year 2

In the second year of the course you'll work through a series of mini projects building up to a final project. The focus of the second year will be up to you! You'll be able to choose from any of the skills you learned in the first year and learn more advanced skills in these areas.

A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.

How will it be delivered?

Each year starts with three formative units, which give you the space to explore new skills and discover your strengths. Each year ends with a Final Major Project, which is an extended coursework project which provides you with your grade for the year. There are no exams.
