At least 2 Grade 3's (D) at GCSE
You will learn about the care needs of different groups including the elderly, young children and people with disabilities and how care professionals meet these needs. This includes human body systems and care of disorders, nutrition and healthy living, human lifespan and development and communication.
Assignments and projects are based on realistic workplace situations and you will learn about the standards expected in care settings. Work experience is an essential part of the course.
In addition to the main programme you will also complete an additional BTEC work skills qualification.

Students from this course have gone on to study the BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Health & Social Care, the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care course or other Level 3 qualifications such as Childcare. With further training or study you could go on to a career in areas such as residential or health care or teaching support.
