4 GCSE's at grade 4 or above including English and Maths
Equivalent to 3 A Levels
The purpose of the Level 3 technical qualification is to ensure students have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training relevant to the T Level.
It is suitable for post 16 students looking to develop both knowledge and practical skills in the education and childcare sector and will support students on to a range of progression routes including employment, higher education and higher apprenticeships.
This Level 3 Technical qualification is split into 3 components.
Core Component
You will build knowledge and underpinning concepts, theories and principles as well as core skills for the education and welfare sector. You will study a variety of elements including supporting education, safeguarding, behaviour, child development and special educational needs and disabilities. You will develop core skills including communicating to engage children, assessing children's progress and managing and assessing risk.
Occupational Specialisms
You will develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of supporting and promoting play, developing relationships with children, planning, providing and reviewing care and working in partnership with colleagues, parents and other professionals.
Industry Placement
You will complete 750 hours of industry placement across the 2 year course to develop the competencies required to work as a practitioner in early years settings.
For the Core Component you will complete 2 written exam papers and an employer-set project.
For the Occupational Specialism component, you will complete several assignments.
Students who achieve this full qualification could progress into employment as an early year's practitioner or educator, pre-school worker, worker in community nurseries or nanny. They could also move to higher education or complete an apprenticeship.
